Make-A-Wish Hike Weekend - a HUGE success!

I typically start my newsletter with an update on what’s happening in the San Diego real estate market, but I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on my Make-A-Wish fundraising journey.

When I made the commitment in February to hike 28 miles in one day for Make-A-Wish, I didn’t fully understand what I was getting myself into. Beyond the multiple hundreds (yes hundreds) of miles of training hikes and the early morning starts, I didn’t realize what a life-changing experience this would be for me. The people involved in making this happen – from the CEO and staff of the San Diego Make-A-Wish Chapter, to the team of volunteer hike leaders and medics who guaranteed that us beginning hikers didn't die on the trail, to the 200 hikers who signed up for this challenge, to the generous donors who so freely gave their support to this amazing organization, to the critically ill kids and their families who directly benefit from our fundraising efforts – were truly the most selfless individuals I’ve had the honor to met. I got to see parts of beautiful, San Diego County that I never knew existed. I pushed my physical and mental strength beyond anything I had ever done before. I deepened long-term friendships and made new friends along the way who I believe will be in my life for many years to come. Most importantly, I was reminded that it is a privilege to have good health and to walk even 1 mile, let alone 28. No amount of pain or discomfort I felt over the last 5 months and during this weekend’s event compared to the pain that people with critical illnesses, or their caretakers face every day, sometimes for years without relief.

My heart is full of gratitude to every person who donated to this effort, sent me words of encouragement, or took the time to come out to support us at the event. Thank you for helping me raise over $4500, which contributed to my Compass Wish Makers team raising over $54,000, which became a part of the $660,000 generated by the event. Together, we impacted more than 65 children and their families by allowing them to exist beyond their treatments and illnesses and feel joyful if even for a day.

Happy trails!

P.S. If you missed reading about the current state of the housing market in the County or your neighborhood, reach out to me: 619-890-2877 or noel@noelwheeler.com and I'd be happy to discuss.

I always love hearing from you 😊.

Real Estate Photographers Reveal the One Listing Photo That Can Make - or Break - a Sale

"Where do all eyes go first when perusing a real estate listing? The photos, of course. Home sellers should never underestimate the importance of investing in a professional real estate photographer to get the very best pictures possible of their place. Because no matter how good an eye you have, homeowners tend to be blind to how their own home comes across on camera—and, as a result, might have listing photos that don’t show their home in the best light."
